With this new computer came Google Desktop and a Google search bar ( ive yet to work out if its worth keeping them or not, ) but each time I log onto the internet a Zone Alarm warning window keeps showing this....

Google Desktop Wants to accept connections from the internet.

can some one please tell this newbie, just what's going on and should I let it accept an internet
connection..?

Thanks Mypenry

Thank you Animal, for your reply , ive read the article

I don't really know just what Google Desktop is doing , and I don't use it, so may be I will un install it ....

Google Desktop 3.31MB

also on this new computer is Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer , which again I don;t use, ...

Google Toolbar for Internet explorer ...4.44MB.

can you offer a comment on life without the above Google applications..? If I do un install them both ( for security and lack of use reasons )

the comment in the article ......Unless you configure Google Desktop very carefully, and few people will, Google will have copies of your tax returns, love letters, business records, financial and medical files, and whatever other text-based documents the desktop software can index," EFF Staff

make me wonder can I do with out Google stuff..?

Thanks ................ Mypenry

A simple bookmark to Google is all you really need to use it, or any of its non-search applications.
