A little solution that works for me. My fans aren't to bad, but my hard drive's a little noisy. But I find those kinda' bulky looking head phones that cancel out sound. Mine are just 10$ Koss head phones, I can hear things such as my mom yelling or the phone, but I don't head my fans or hardrive.
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.
