Hi all ,

Using Firefox 42.0 Win 8.1 64 bit , to avoid getting the Mcafee add on with Adobe updates ( Version 19.0.0.226)  I always chose the manual option , but the latest version of FF is set to do this automatically, no option to sidestep any ( if any ) bundled add ons . I have tried changing the update options in FF but  nothing changes . Any help would be appreciated !

TIA :)

Hi, @pcblues:

In addition to @Chris Cosgrove's  excellent advice....

I could well be wrong and missing something, but I am not aware of Firefox 42 performing mandatory, automatic Flash Player updates?
The release notes are here, and I don't see any mention of that: Release Notes

In fact, I just manually updated Flash Player to 19.0.0.245 by following this process:

1) Download Flash Player installers for Plug-In browsers (Firefox) and Active-X browsers (IE) from here: https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (these are the "slim" installers, with no bundled stuff)

2) Close browsers
3) Run the Flash Player uninstaller from here: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
4) Run both Flash Player installers

I have used this process for many years, with excellent results and no bundled freebies.

Perhaps you are thinking of MS Edge, which -- if I understand correctly -- *does* have embedded Flash Player and does update automatically (I cannot test that, as I run Win 7)??

If it is Firefox, could you please provide a screen shot of the Firefox options/settings where you see the mandatory Flash Player updates or a link that mentions that?

(I would like to learn.)

Cheers,

MM
