originally was running vista and used a scandisk to save passwords, billing and other things. My vista died with the blue screen so my daughter gave me her computer which runs window 7. All my files on the scandisk are xlr files and window 7 can't/won't open them. What can I do to get these files to open?

xlr file type is used by Microsoft Works. Which apparently you had on the other machine and not on the one you're currently using. Do you still have your Microsoft Works install media?

Thank you for responding so quickly. When you say install media are you speaking about a disk for microsoft works? If you are, then I have a disk, it's works 8.5. Will that help? I don't want to uninstall 7.

If you have the Disk for Works 8.5 you can install that on Windows 7 System , you will not lose Win 7 Operating System.

It is a Program like any other to compliment your system.

I would make a System Restore Point prior to installing if you feel unsure of anything.

Animal may assist you further if needed.

SR is of no value when dealing with files moved from System 1 to System 2...the program install seems to have resolved it for OP.
