Omega External hard drive

I have an OMEGA, external harddrive.It has stopped working, i plug the power cord in and into my laptop, the little blue light doesnt come on. How can i tell if it´s the cable or the hard drive. Thanks.

Well...an external drive has at least 5 failure points, IMO:  the drive, the USB connecting cable, the power cable, the enclosure itself, the USB port.


I believe that testing the port itself is the easiest place to start...all others will depend on whether you can open the case and remove the drive.
