Go to Download.com and search for something that will cleanup your desktop. Or run your spyware protection, such as Ad-Aware SE Personal. Search that on google.

Welcome to Bleeping Computer, jcssk:
How long has this been occuring? Have you tried a computer restart since this started? If it just started, and you can reproduce the issue after a computer restart, perhaps you can try a system restore to take the computer back to a time before this issue started.

I also did a search for your issue and found this... http://windowsxp.mvps.org/duplicatedesktop.htm

His resolution to your issue involves using the registry editor. I always like to quote Microsoft when using the registry editor...

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Please answer the questions(and other suggestions mentioned) before you get into doing the registry fix.

Let us know.

Sorry to hear that. Did you attempt the registry fix from the website linked above?

Just a wild guess, but what graphics adapter do you have and do you have it set for multiple monitors?
