Hello Bleeping Computer Community-

You have helped me once before for past issues, and have been patient with my lack of my knowledge.  I have a new problem I would like to discuss.  I have had a Lenovo Yoga 2 with intel core I7 processor for the past year, so this is relatively new.  I initially had windows 8 when I first bought it and now have Windows 10.  In both operating systems, I intermittently get an error leading to a blue screen of death with a sad face informing me that my computer needs to unexpectedly restart.  Unfortunately, I cannot link this to specific software.  I have updated / upgraded everything, hoping the upgrade to Windows 10 would resolve the issue, but no, still goes on.

The only message I get with the error is "Unexpected_Store_Exception" or something like that, I'm not sure about the last word as it only flashes briefly.

OK...so where do I start to help you help me?

Sorry, Im an idiot and did not read the stickie regarding what the initial thread should contain.  I have created the zip files requested.  What is the best way to find all my other information, i.e. CPU, etc? I'm having some trouble figuring out how to attach the zip files to the post.

To attach files, you have to access the "More Reply Options" page (the link in the lower right of the Reply to this topic box.

Or, you can upload them to a free file hosting service (such as OneDrive or DropBox) and post the shared link here.

FYI - the Unexpected_Store_Exception is a STOP 0x154 error.  Not much has been seen about these errors, but I got this from the W10 SDK :

UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION (0x154)
The store component caught an unexpected exception.

PARAMETERS
1 - Pointer to the store context or data manager
        2 - Exception information
        3 - Reserved
        4 - Reserved

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Thanks for responding!  Here are the attachments.  What are the implications of what you found from the W10 SDK?

Mostly I post the info for reference - but in this case it's also because I'm working on updating the BSOD Index:  http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html

Also, there's no record of this BSOD in your reports - so it's the only information that we have to go on here.

I'd suggest trying this:

Otherwise this tends to look similar to many other problems that we've seen with W10 being installed on well-used systems.

There's a couple of things to try:
1)  Run the following command in a Powershell window that's run as an Administrator in order to re-register the Windows Store apps:

Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
From this article:  http://www.thewindowsclub.com/re-register-windows-store-apps
Be sure that Edge is closed (in Task Manager).  Cortana will spit an error as it's still running - don't worry about that for now.

2)  Uninstall your antivirus, then use the removal tool for it (there's a list of most of them here:  http://www.carrona.org/avuninst.html ), then install a freshly downloaded, W10 compatible version.  Some A/V have difficulties with the upgrade, so removing them and then reinstalling them will help how they run.

3)  Download fresh copies of the latest, W10 compatible audio and video drivers for your system.  Then uninstall the current versions from your system.  Then install the freshly downloaded versions.

4)  Get ALL available Windows Updates

5)  Get ALL available, W10 compatible drivers/programs from the manufacturer's website.  If some aren't compatible w/W10, check here about uninstalling them.

6)  Get ALL available, W10 compatible drivers/programs for any add-on hardware and any software that you installed previously.  If they aren't compatible, please uninstall them.

If this doesn't fix things, then post back so we can discuss the following options:
- continuing to attempt to fix this copy of the OS
- Reset of the OS (considering both the "Keep My Files" and the "Remove Everything" options)
- revert to the previous OS (both at less than 30 days, and at more than 30 days since initial update)
- revert to the previous OS with another attempt at installing W10 (I don't recommend this)
- clean install of the previous OS
- clean install of the previous OS, then update to W10 (only needed if a clean install of W10 fails)
- W10 clean install

Please zip up C:\Windows\MEMORY.dmp and upload it to a free file hosting service (such as OneDrive or DropBox).  Then share a link to it here.

Then ensure that the system is set to provide minidumps:  http://www.carrona.org/setmini.html

There are 8 ApphelpHardBlock errors in the WER section of MSINFO32.
I suspect that this means that you have incompatible software installed.
The ApphelpHardBlock message means that an incompatible program has been blocked, but it does not specify which program it is.
Please check your older software for compatibility with this version of Windows.

Many, many Windows Update errors.  Ensure that you are getting and installing Windows Updates.  If not, or if you're having problems, please post back for additional suggestions.

I tried to do everything you said to the best of my abilities.  I have not experienced another BSOD just yet.  I will post back if if another occurs with hopefully more specific information such as the minidumps, which are now set.  Here is the link to my memory.dmp.

Let me know if that works.

If it hasn't BSOD'd again - then it may be fixed.

Let's wait and see what happens........

FYI - this is a different memory dump than the one that you cited in your first post.

This one happened on 15 August 2015 at 14:45 (2:45 pm) - Eastern Time in the US

It blames video, but as it's older I don't have any further suggestions at this point.

OK awesome.  Thank for your help. That was the file called memory.dmp on my computer.  If I have the minidumps now set as per your prior post, it should theoretically give you the information you need in case a future BSOD occurs, right?

Theoretically - yes.  It should collect minidumps in the future.

Minidumps contain less information, but are easier to upload and review.

I, personally, rarely use the full memory dumps - simply because they are:

- too large to upload/download easily

- they overwrite the latest one, so there's no ongoing record of the memory dumps.

FYI - dump creation/collection is actually a very complicated subject.

So complicated that I don't even bother to troubleshoot it beyond a few simple diagnostics (set minidumps and test the hard drive)

Here's a draft paper on how memory dumps are created:  http://www.carrona.org/dumpgen.html
