Hi, I wanted to format a floppy disk, it won't let me, I made sure it wasn't write protected, right clicked drive A:/ and clicked format. It said Windows was unable to format the disk. So then I tried formatting the floppy in DOS, and it worked. I went back to My Computer, and tried to explore the floppy, and it said that I needed to format it, what's going on?

I've had problems with floppy disks in XP.
I solved them by getting a USB floppy drive.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

It said Windows was unable to format the disk.

Did you try a quick format or a full one? Sometimes when I've tried a quick format it wouldn't let me do it, but when I unchecked it and did the full format it worked. Try that.
