Hi Guys. I am a newbie to this site and I hope someone may be able to help me out here.
I run XP Home SP2 on a laptop which I use for playing CDs and other music files. It has worked fine for years. Suddenly, I have lost all visualisations in WMP11, including the default ones. I removed all extra visualisations, but no go. So I removed (rolled back) WMP to version 10. Still no visuals on a CD and midi, wav, and other files won't open in WMP10.
I have tried Safe Mode (WMP11 or 10 won't open), and error check, a scannow, reinstalling WMP11 but nothing has cured the problem. Significantly, (I think !) the default visuals show up in the plugin list, but whichever one I select, the "Apply" button is greyed out, and nothing works. Just get a black screen in that frame. Also tried disabling my antivirus (ESET) to see if that was interfering with the Media Player, but it hasn't made any difference.
Also, if it's relevant, when opening Media Player, each "frame" seems to load separately, as opposed to the whole complete window opening in one go, ready to use.
Should I remove Media Player 11 Runtime?
Anyone got any ideas on what to do to find a resolution to this issue?
Thanks very much.
