I recenty bought and installed a usb cd/dvd drive and used it a couple of times with no problems.

The other day I had to unplug it and when I plugged it back in the computer would not recognize it.

??????? Plugged back into the same port.

Now I replyed to this just a minute ago. No other computer but have plugged it into 3 different usb ports.

Weird thing is the drive will burn and copy to disk even tho it is not recognized.

You say it will burn and copy to disk. Do these discs work in another computer ?  If they do, then there is no problem with the drive just some weird reason why it is not being recognised. Presumably your burning software is seeing it when you go to burn a disc.

That's what it seems like to me also.  I have no other computer to try them in but they were certainly written to and I can see the files when browseing the cd.  They were a system back up.

Since you can see the files on these discs they are probably good to go. I would still check them in a different computer just to be safe. You must know somebody who has a computer with a CD/DVD drive, it would only take a couple of minutes.
