I have tried so many things but it keeps getting worse. I bought the laptop a few months ago from someone and think this might be why he sold it. I have a MSI with 7. At first I had no problem connecting to the interenet then I no longer could connect my games from Steam, Blizzard, etc. to the internet. I started using an usb wireless conector and that worked just fine but then that stopped working. I would have no problem connecting to the internet but couldn't get the games to connect. Now even with the cord connected to the modem im having problems connecting the internet and the games. I know I have a lot of files missing when I did a HiJack this scan. It's not the ports, I made sure of that. It shows that My computer is connecting to the modem but then it gets block by the modem. I have tried so many things that blizzard says to do to if you have internet problems. I live with my cousin and he has no problem connecting so it is not the modem settings. It is my computer somewhere. My computer is up to date, my windows and my drivers are all up to date. I have avast, maleware bytes, and spybot and they always come up empty since I got the computer. I think the problem might be the missing files, well I hope that is the problem. When I go into my device manager, under the network devices it shows that I have bluetooth device (personal area network), bluetooth device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI), Intel centrino ® Wireless  N 2230, Killer e2200 PCI-E Gigabit  Ethernet Controller  (NDIS 6.20), Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter, and Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #3. I tried intel but they want me to call them and im never around the times they are open. In order for me to conncet to the internet and my games I have to keep doing a system restore which always says it didn't work.

First of all - welcome to BC !

I would like to have some more information on your computer. Please download 'Speccy', a free download from BC, you can get it here -

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/speccy/

Speccy produces a link to the report on your computer, the report is anonymised before publication. These two images will show you how to get the link. Copy the link and paste it into your next post -

I would also like you to run Farber's Mini Toolbox, another free download from BC, you can get it here -

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/minitoolbox/

Save it to your desktop, double click it to run it and tick the boxes as shown here -

Please follow the expert advice of @Chris Cosgrove.

However, if I may interject one quick thing: there has been a known issue with MBAM Premium and one particular setting of the Killer Network Manager with that particular hardware setup.

Try disabling the setting for "Enable Bandwidth Control" in Killer Network Manager - that *may* resolve your issue.

post-29793-0-08858900-1427334440.jpg

Another way of doing it....

This is a simple fix and has worked for folks with the Killer e2200:

For Windows 7:

  • Navigate to Start --> Control Panel
  • Click Network and Internet then Network and Sharing Center
  • Click Change Adaptor Settings
  • Right-click the Killer wireless connection and select Properties
  • Under the Networking Tab, uncheck Qualcomm Atheros Bandwidth Control
  • Click OK
  • Reboot

This resolved the conflict for most.

Recent update on this issue by the MBAM Senior Technical Product Manager @bdubrow:

Just wanted to give you (and any others who may be experiencing this issue) another update. We've tested the latest drivers released by Rivet Networks (makers of the Killer networking products) and are happy to confirm that they've implemented a fix so that you can now use both Malwarebytes Web Protection and Killer Network Manager's Bandwidth Control alongside each other with no issues.

You can download the latest Killer drivers from this site.

We appreciated your patience as we worked toward a solution here!

<Just a quick thought from a home user, not an expert or geek>

And about that unchecking Qualcomm Atheros Bandwidth Control I don't even see it under the tab. I can't even find the program even so I don't know how to open up the KN Manager. I do know how to open up the adaptor settings but under the tab there are only the normal list of what they all have.  Client for microsoft networks, QoS packet, file and printer sharing, NDIS protocol driver IP version 6 and 4, and the link layers.

Never mind on the KN Manager. After I installed the program I unchecked it but that did not help at all.  And I uncheck Qualcomm Atheros Bandwidth Control and that did not help. Now system restore no longer works. I can't connect to games anymore at all. And this is using the cord connecting to the modem let alone the wireless.

If I am reading your Speccy report correctly you appear to have both the Windows firewall and the Avast firewall active. Only one should be active at any time. You can check through ‘Control panel – Windows firewall’ and through the Avast control panel if this statement is correct. As this is a situation known to cause problems, pick whichever you prefer and disable the other.

Turning to your MTB report the first thing is that both your Ethernet and wifi connections are active. I believe when you created this report you were connected by Ethernet. If you are connecting by Ethernet, switch the wifi on your laptop off. You should find a symbol for it on one of the ‘F’ keys, possibly with the use of the ‘Fn’ key as well – as ‘Fn +Fx’.

There are a number of error reports relating to ‘SetupARservice’. This is connected to Realtek drivers, possibly audio drivers. While this is not relevant to the immediate problem it would be worth your while to download and install the latest ones you can find – the maker’s web-site would be the obvious source.

Under system errors, there are two entries I frankly do not understand !  Are there two other computers on the network with the names ‘Liamsgramma’ and ‘Unity’ ?  They seem to be interfering with your own browser. Beyond that you have a lot of errors relating to Spybot. I would be inclined to uninstall this. You have malwarebytes in place and Avast as your AV. If you wish another malware detector I can recommend Super Antispyware. Apart from anything else it runs a lot faster than Spybot.

You have one device which appears not to be working, a USB hub

Device ID: IUSB3\ROOT_HUB30\4&5A330E1&0
Problem: : The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
Resolution: To install the drivers for this device, click "Update Driver", which starts the Hardware Update wizard.

Check and try the above and post back with how you get on. This sounds a really nice computer, well worth getting working properly.

Liamsgrandma is my aunts computer and the unity is my cousins. He and I shared computers to add files to each of our computers in order to play minecraft together, would there be something blocking my computer after that? Yeah it is a really nice computer. One side of my computer, the USB hubs never worked. When I was doing this I forgot to turn off the wireless internet. I have a button on the computer that allows me to turn it off and on when ever I want to. I didn't bother to turn it off because it doesn't really work like it should so I forget a lot of times when I connect with the cord.

Now for avast I thought the free one does not have the firewall. It doesn't show up in my settings - active protection tab. I'll uninstall avast and try that.

Also is there a way to be able to test the mother board, to see if the ether net part of it is going out? I realy don't want to have to wripe everything clean and reinstall everything just to test that theory.

That did not work and it did. I turned off the windows firewall after I uninstalled avast and I can connect with the cord to the modem but not wireless. The wireless won't work.

I don't want you running around on the internet without (1) a working firewall, and (2) working A/V !  It's just that there are two entries in your Speccy report which suggest you do, or did, have two firewalls running at the same time.

Under the section OS - Firewall, it says 'Firewall enabled, display name 'Avast'' and under the section OS - Services it says 'Running : Windows firewall'.

I would leave the Windows firewall running, in Win 7 it works well and just make sure the Avast one is disabled. I too use the free version of Avast but my Speccy report makes no mention of the Avast firewall in the 'OS- Firewall' section, but does list the Windows one as running under 'Services'.

There are two or three possible causes for on-board wifi not to work. One is the actual wifi unit may have failed, another is that the aerial leads which connect to it may have come disconnected or the aerial wire, which runs around the screen may have a break in it. I have come across both the first two.

I would be inclined to try and repair this USB root hub, follow the method suggested in the quote from your MTB report.

When I first came across your problem I wasn't entirely sure what it was. I think I am going to see if I can get one of of our networking enthusiasts to give a second opinion.

My cousin turned off windows firewall completely by using cmd. I turned it back on with control panel so im sure part of it is still off. But now I can connect to the internet with the cord going to the modem. I can play for a few minutes using wireless but then it gets blocked and I would have to turn off the wireless and then turn it back on. So I have a partial working wirelss internet.

Control Panel -->  Windows Firewall --> Allow a Program or Feature Through Windows Firewall -->  Allow another program. You can browse for that particular game EXEs and add them to the allow listing, for home and for public if you want.  I have Windows 7 Pro, your wording within your Control Panel drill-down may very well vary.

Yeah that has already been done, one of the many things I have tried.

If I got to control panel > network and internet > network map

I change the network map of to one of 3 wireless networks I have it says the adaptor is not connected. Does that mean anything? Like maybe some wires are lose or something? Also certain websites work and others don't. Google, manga stream, this one, but hulu, amazon and other websites like adobe have a hard time loading all the way.

I am not the one to guide you through this....But.....Do you have a Windows 7 disk....or does the laptop have a recovery partition on it ?

If either you have the disk, or it has a recovery partition, then I would Reset it to factory settings.

Another alternative is if you have a backup.

yeah I was thinking about using my cousins cd to do that because my system restore points are getting deleted and it doesn't work. I always get an error doing it. That and I have so many missing files and can't think of doing anything else. I'm not sure if I have a recovery partition on my laptop. I never checked. I just hate having to download all my games over again and other software that I have on here.
