I slapped my laptop because the CD wasn't loading quickly and my laptop's screen's left side is slightly faded and it has multi colored lines running vertically and horizontally on it. The laptop is working. I can log in. But I just can't see wht i am doing on the screen. Is it software or hardware problem and how do I fix it, How much will it cost?

You could be unlucky and have damaged the LCD screen, which would be an expensive repair. But it's quite possible you have slightly dislodged the LVDS cable at the connector, one end or the other. If it's that, the laptop needs to be dismantled and the connector plugged in correctly. If you're not keen on tackling something like that yourself, you'd need to find out from a computer repair company how much they charge for a basic assessment/repair.

It's funny because you turned a small problem into a much bigger one... and it is a hardware problem.
