Hello,

I recently got a "new" used computer and need to download PaintShop Pro X8 onto it. But every time I try, I get the following error message:

"PaintShop Pro X8 is already installed on your computer. Press "OK" to quit the installation."

Then nothing happens. But I don't see any trace of PSP X8 on this computer and it's not on the list of programs in the Control Panel for me to Uninstall. I looked up the folders and registry keys that PSP X8 uses and don't see any of them. I don't know whether PSP X8 has ever actually been on this computer or not, but even if it has been I shouldn't be getting this message. It should just re-install with the progress from the last installation saved. Is there a way to delete or clear out whatever is triggering this message, other than having to completely re-install Windows?

Run this fixit and see if you can then install the program.

I don't know if it affects anything, but the fixit is for 64-bit while the computer is 32-bit. I tried it anyway though. The fixit didn't detect PSP X8 either, so it didn't apply any changes.

Download the Microsoft Cleanup Utility here. Run it and look through the list for PSP. If it shows then select it and only that program to delete. If you do not see PSP then exit the program.

Edit: If the above does not work use the uninstaller utility for PSP X8 here
