Hello.

I would really valve some advice and help please.

I have an unwanted program called 'rover 26 redirect' which keeps starting up and opening in a new window and without being prompted. A new screen is opened and it is full of words, some of the words mention 'tracking' 'yahoo' and 'ebay'.

My Kaspersky internet Ant-virus opens the progam in a safe green screen.

I had a look online and people say they've been hi-jacked by this. It is really annoying as it opens very often by itself and it shouldn't. And with Kaspersky opening it in a safe screen gives me reason to be concerned.

Others say it creates a vulnerablity and puts users at risk.

I've done a few removals with doing a Kaspersky scan, spybot, malawarebytes, and superantipyware scan, and running TFC.exe, which are the only ones i use these days. But it doesn't shift this 'rover 26 redirect' screen.

Is there someone who can help please. :-)

Kind Regards,

Becky

Uninstall Spybot S&D....it has long since lost its standing as a preferred security program and it will interfere with other scans.

Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the

Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of toolbars....especially Google.

After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.

CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Scan button.
  • When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
  • Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
  • download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message
  • Hold down Control and click on this link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
  • Click the esetonlinebtn.png button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
  • Click on esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the esetsmartinstaller_enu.png icon on your desktop.
  • Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
  • Click the Start button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, click List Threats
  • Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Click the Back button.
  • Click the Finish button.
  • NOTE:Sometimes if ESET finds no infections it will not create a log.

A few junky programs and adware were found and removed by those two scans.

After completing the Eset scan....do this: (the Eset scan will take more than an hour...depending on amount of data and computer resources.)

Post the three lists mentioned below using CCleaner.

Open CCleaner and click on Tools. Choose Startups. On that page you will see a list of Windows Startups and at the top tabs for each browser and Scheduled Tasks.

At the bottom right of that page you will see a button when clicked will allow you to Copy and Paste the list of Windows Startups and Scheduled Tasks into your next

post. Please do that.

Open CCleaner and click on Tools. Choose Uninstall. On that page you will see a list of programs installed on your computer and at the bottom right of that page you

will see a button when clicked will allow you to Copy and Paste that list in your next post. Please do that.

Hi Buddy.

That's good previous scans it removed some funky programs. :-)

Eset has just finished completing it's scan, it did take along time to complete, and it did find something.

Here is what it found:

C:\AdwCleaner\Quarantine\C\Users\Becky\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ggd3iqei.default\Extensions\plugin@getwebcake.com.xpi.vir    JS/Adware.Yontoo.C application    deleted - quarantined

I shall do the other thing you asked now.

Regards,

Becky

Disable this Windows Startup: Yes    HKCU:Run    CCleaner Monitoring    Piriform Ltd    "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" /MONITOR

You can use CCleaner by clicking on each item to highlight and then on the right choosing either to Disable, Remove, Delete or Uninstall.

If offered after highlighting, Delete/ remove these entries: (presently disabled)

No    HKCU:Run    qupdate        C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader 6.0 Sprint\update.exe

No    HKLM:Run    SDTray        "C:\Program Files (x86)\Spybot - Search & Destroy 2\SDTray.exe"

Disable all three Scheduled Tasks

Uninstall These programs:

ESET Online Scanner v3        04/01/2015

Hattrick Organizer (remove only)        13/08/2015      (Unless you really want to keep it...)

Java 7 Update 79 (64-bit)    Oracle    13/08/2015    118 MB    7.0.790  (Old Java is a malware magnet)

Unity Web Player    Unity Technologies ApS    01/12/2013    12.0 MB

Please let me know if the problem reported in your opening post is gone or not.

Sometimes it is necessary to completely uninstall Browsers including your browser's profiles to remove some adware. I won't ask you

to take that step if problem is gone.

Hi Buddy.

I've completed doing what you asked, except i've decided to keep Hattrick Organizer for the moment as i use it sometimes. I wonder if i will need Unity Player but i've deleted it and i will see how i get on without it.

I've disabled and deleted all else suggested.

I'll see if it has solved my problem. If not i'll uninstall Hattrick Organizer and wait and see if it has sorted it.

If not i'll get back in touch, and maybe you can advise me to uninstall my browser and reinstall it to see if that has deleted the problem.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help. :-)

Kind Regards,

Becky

Great !

Just a heads up....Almost all FREE programs involved in downloading, converting and editing of images and videos come bundled with adware

Many other FREE programs, add-ons including security programs most often come bundled with adware. Some offer you the chance to block the

install of the adware....some don't.

I see.

When downloading FREE programs i always go for the custom install, so i can decline all the other programs they want me to include, but i don't.

But some still download adware without me realisng, naughty. Thanks.
