Basically your not allowed to post images directly from your computer or it's clipboard.  How ever you can attach an image like a screen shot or snip capture.

Hello again JohnWJ! :)

Firstly, in response to:You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community.

If you would please share "what community" were you attempting to embed an image?

Typically you need to use an image "hosting website or program" to upload your image, get a direct URL, use the image tool bar icon and post your image.

Mind you, I've found that not all Forum categories work the same in regards to posting an image or a screen shot.

Let's first have you identify what Forum category you are receiving the error you shared.

Mind you, all members are volunteers, and depending on the "load" of issues, not all posts get the same time-line response.

It will be awesome for you to share exactly where you are having your troubles!

First step, if you do not have a "free" account with Photobucket, please do so. (not mandatory, but works)

Website: https://secure.photobucket.com/login

I have shared an ametuer "how to use Photobucket" here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/40453/bleeping-computers-family-album/?p=3839803

You'll find four(4) separate posts showing how I use Photobucket to embed a picture.  Mind you, the pictures are not the best!  I'm still in newbie stage with many things!

Next, use Google Images for a funny cat picture, save to your desktop, name funnycat. (ony a suggestion for a start!) Use Photobucket to host this picture.

Then work on, posting your picture in this Forum category: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/253561/lolcat-time/page-58 (It's fun about cats and will be great practice!)

If any of these suggested steps do not work, post back!  As I have learned here in BC..it takes the village to get any of us on the way to success!

You might find another member who might join in with your post; everyone works together!

I really hope you will find how to embed a picture!

Congratulations and jubilations!

Once you poke about in Photobucket, you'll get used to the "edit" tab and learn how to re-size, crop, add fun details and even text to your photo! Great fun!

One tid-bit I have learned; one you have uploaded your photo, and you you see it on the bottom left, you have the option to give it a name.

I have found to start with 1 or A..etc. in the event that if I elect to re-size or edit the photo. It makes it much easier, once you have altered the original photo and saved it (even if you tick "replace original") to keep track of the original (1 or A etc.) When you return to your library, you can remember what photo you wish to post.

Lastly, if you ever "delete" the photo you have embedded in a post here, it will disappear!  That happend to me (the cat did it!) and poof..every photo I had embedded when bye = bye!

Have fun! This is the only "free" source that I use. There might be other alternatives available, I just don't know what they are!

JohnWJ,

I fixed the coding in that post of yours in LOLCATs topic

The proper coding is:

[img=http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w183/lone-aussie-2197/funny_photo/Funny-Cat_zpstbcfn8bh.jpg]

Notice that it ends in .jpg  not html

Hiya!  Now I'm confused? On 10/14/2015, the image that JohnJW embedded worked perfectly? I saw it with my own ancient eyes!

What happened?

If he used the Direct Link from Photobucket, clicked on the BC green box image icon,  pasted the Photobucket direct link in the URL box that pops up..in my experience, the link is "converted" without having to type any code? No?

Laughing...perhaps something took place behind the scenes that I did not see?

I'm always learning..thanks for helping ~ my marbles are floating in my brain!!!

The image did in fact show, but the coding was actually a bungled URL. I saw the beginnings of the bungled URL coding right before the image, so I fixed it. It seems contrary to reason, but you do indeed need to copy the Direct code on Photobucket. If use use the IMAGE code there, it will be messed up. You can then click on the Image icon above the post area, then pasted in the direct code. The BB code will like like what I posted above.

So, using the same image as above, you don't want to use this:

[url=http://s176.photobucket.com/user/lone-aussie-2197/media/funny_photo/Funny-Cat_zpstbcfn8bh.jpg.html][img=http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w183/lone-aussie-2197/funny_photo/Funny-Cat_zpstbcfn8bh.jpg][/URL]
Because you'll get that error message you've talked about. I'm not entirely sure what you did on the post I corrected. It looked like part of what's above, but not all of it.

What you want to use is this:

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w183/lone-aussie-2197/funny_photo/Funny-Cat_zpstbcfn8bh.jpg
and you'll get this:

Funny-Cat_zpstbcfn8bh.jpg

Note, I didn't use the BB coding for images here this time, those are the links as directly copied from Photobucket.

Once you've used the image icon and entered the URL, then decide to turn off the Rich Text Editor, you'll find this coding:

[img=http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w183/lone-aussie-2197/funny_photo/Funny-Cat_zpstbcfn8bh.jpg]
