I was erasing a movie (The Mists of Avalon). The folder with the files inside could not be deleted, so I opened the folder and deleted each item one by one. But one file could not be deleted. It was called "installer.exe" (without the quotation marks) and weighed 0 Kb.

Eraser could not get rid of it and rmdir q/ s/ The Mists of Avalon   did not erase it either.

Could somebody please tell me how to get rid of that file and folder?

Thank you

First of all, lets confirm about the file (sometimes it might not exist but explorer sometimes does not delete thumbnails.

Open Command Prompt

Type this

dir [path to the movie folder]

Where [path to the movie folder] is the path to the folder where the file could not be deleted

Tell us if dir found the file or not

I think I found out the issue here

Open Notepad

Copy and paste this:

taskkill /IM explorer.exe
del E:\Downloads\The.Mists.of.Avalon.2001.DVDRip.XviD.AC3-AsA\installer.exe
start explorer.exe

Go to FileSave As...

Click on Save as type, and choose All Files

Save this on Desktop with the name "Fix.bat"

Now, Right-click on it, and click on Run as Administrator

Let me know if it deleted the file or not
