I've just upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and things seem to have gone well except Action Center keeps telling me my Anti Virus (Panda free) is turned off when it seems it's running normally. Task manager shows all the Panda processes I would expect, and clicking on the Panda system tray icon says I'm protected.

Is your version of Panda currently up to date with updated definitions? Have you rebooted the computer once everything has been updated?

Open up the Action Center

Click the box that says "View Antivirus Apps"

Select  Panda in the list

Click on the button that says "Turn on"

Select " Yes I trust this publisher and want to run this app"

Reboot

Thanks. I'd already done that but I've just done it again and rebooted but still the same. Action Center still says Panda is turned off and it makes no difference when I try and turn it on there but Task manager and the Panda systray icon seem to suggest it's running normally.

PS - just ran HitmanPro and it didn't find any nasties. I'm just wondering if a clean install of Panda would solve the problem.

Was Panda installed on the Vista machine and then you got the error after the upgrade, or installed Panda after you upgrade?  You can always try uninstalling then reinstalling Panda Free again to see if it does the trick. I would recommend Microsoft Security Essentials myself, but that is my own personal opinion.

Haha. I just posted about reinstalling Panda and then I read your post suggesting it. I've been using Panda for some time and never had this issue with Vista. I'll do a clean install and see if it fixes it. Have to say MSE is the one AV I would never use again. It's what first brought me to the BC community several years ago when it let through a load of nasties that trashed my computer.

I always had better luck with MSE during my free days but I have a purchased copy of Emsisoft and love it.   Let me know how the fresh install does.

Thanks. I've got to break off now but I'll report back later.
