Wiping free space

 I use Ccleaner regularly to clean junk. Is using the option to wipe free space a good option to use occasionally?

Only if you are worried about somebody accessing the drive and trying to recover deleted files.

Further to  JohnC_21's remarks, it doesn't hurt, but it will take longer.  It's really up to you.

But didn't see it is necessary. And if it goes wrong, you would risk losing important data, which, what's worse, cannot be recovered by data recovery software.
