what format allows information to read on both Mac snow leopard and windows 8.1. I am trying to save information off my Mac snow leopard system and want to be able to read/write it on my windows 8.1 system using a 64gb flash drive. I fformatted the flash drive to exFAT. Some of the info I saved looks the same on both computers. Some of the information can not be opened on the pc. Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem? One of the documents I have on my mac was done on text edit as a graph type document and will not open on my windows system. When I try to open it the computer asks what program I want to open it in. The options it gives me do not open it. I have windows microsoft excel but that is not one of the choices. Can anyone tell me how I can open my mac document in windows microsoft excel? I appreciate any and all help you can give me. Thanks.

Well, that depends on what you want to store:

For images, all images will basically work in Mac (in Preview) and Windows

For documents, use PDFs

What is the filetype of the document on Mac, and what program was used to create it?
Does the program have an "Export" or "Save As" that allows you to change the output format?
