I thought I have saved my recordings but somehow the file is there but no recordings

Which, if any, program are using to record?

Queen-Evie, it's remotely possible that OP is using something similar to my Creative Media Toolbox software, upon concluding a recording, upon clicking the stop recording button, if one does not immediately rename the default holding file and/or copy the said renamed file to a safe haven, the very next recording attempt will overwrite the default holding file.
