Hello and good day,

I recently received a old Gateway laptop that runs windows xp media edition.

I was having trouble and hit the F11 tab and the laptop reset it self to Factory settings. I had wanted to do this but not until I had more info to go on. Anyway, it seems to work well except I can't get on the internet. I also have a desktop that is wired on the internet, with no trouble.

I have Comcast Xfinity Modem and a Linksys Router.

In my internet connections, it says, Wireless Network Connections  is Connected. It also has a 1394 connection is connected, don't know what this is. It also says Local Area Connection, Network cable unplugged with a red X. Don't know why. When I tap on the wireless connection that says connected I go to a box that has disable, repair, status and more. I tried repair,no good  I hit status it takes me to the connection box and I hit view wireless networks.I go to the xfinity tab and put in the Key #. I go to the Linksys tab that says connected but can't connect to that. I tried to repair all. No luck.

I would appreciate any help you can give me.
