What is the make and model of the computer? Is XP 32bit or 64bit?  In Device Manager right click your graphics device, select properties and under the details tab select hardware IDs in the dropdown box. Copy and post the first line

According to the Vendor and device ID the chipset is a intel 865GL or GLC

First see if your XP is 32bit or 64bit.

Method 1: View the System window in Control Panel
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. Type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
  3. Click the General tab. The operating system is displayed as follows:
    • For a 64-bit version operating system, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version < Year>appears under System.
    • For a 32-bit version operating system, Windows XP Professional Version <Year> appears under System.

If 32 bit then try this driver first

If that fails then this one

I am not sure what is causing this problem. If you can do a system restore then I would try that. Did you try uninstalling the graphics driver if it is listed in Uninstall Programs. After uninstalling see if you can uninstall in safe mode. Was XP 32 bit?

Is this computer a Dell? When the computer first boots you should see a OEM screen if the computer is OEM.

k

2nd one installed

when i go to youtube i can only look at videos at 360 res nothing higher nothing lower

i have the option of speeding up or slowing down the video

on my other pc that had the dead hard drive

i could select higher resolutions and not adjust speed

is it because of the graphics card? that one was 32mb

this one is 90something mb

Dell is an OEM computer. I am not sure why you can only get 360. Was this the reason you wanted to try a new driver?
