Since upgrading from 7 to 10, Avast (2105 Free) will not run scheduled scans. Are there settings I need to change in 10 to enable the Avast scheduler? Thanks.

Have you uninstalled Avast, then used the uninstall utility, then installed a freshly downloaded copy?

Here's the Avast uninstall utility:  https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

In some cases the antivirus has problems during the update (and, I presume, it has compatibility issues with the previous installation).
In most cases the above procedure has fixed the problems that we see at work.

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Yes, I repaired first then I did a complete uninstall/reinstall. That solved a couple other minor issues but not the automatic scan problem.

I'd suggest posting over at the Avast forums for some more expert advice.

2 things to try:

-  Just prior to generating this report, attempt to schedule a scan.

Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

- if that doesn't say what's wrong, then make a trace with Process Monitor (free from here:  https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb896645.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 ).

I'm not certain how to set the filters, but it's likely that the error will show up there when attempting to schedule a scan.

You mean schedule a scan, wait until after the scan should have run and then generate the Event Viewer report?

Yes.  What I'm trying to do is to get you to capture an error in the event logs.

So if you schedule the scan, schedule it for 1 minute out and then wait for the failure message.

The Admin logfile will contain a lot of errors - but may not have all of them.

We can find more by using the SysnativeBSODCollection app to collect the other (System and Application) logfiles.

It's the pinned topic for BSOD's at the top of the forum.

Nothing in Event Viewer. I did check to confirm the Avast Timer is listed and timers are enabled in my Power Options. Not worth doing anymore investigation. I'll just run scans manually or keep my PC awake longer. Thanks for your help.
