I got my computer just before motherboards started switching over to PCI express. So I am still stuck with AGPx8 Motherboard.

I would like to upgrade my graphics card, but would like to stick with my motherboard for awhile.

Right now I have a ATI 9600 256mb which only has a core clock speed of about 320 MHz. I started looking on newegg for a new AGP card, but I didnt know what to look for. I saw some AGP cards that had a faster core clock speed than some of the best PCI express cards out and for a fraction of the price.

What are the things to look for when you are buying a Graphics card. And what would be the best AGP card out on the market?

Thanks for the help

My friend use to use a 9600 AGPx8 as yourself. He then bought a GeForce 6600GT (128mb) which peforms pretty well on most games even though the rest of his computer isn't very good.

The best graphics card is probably Radeon x850XT PE, but I don't think it is all that easy to get ahold of nowadays. The GeForce 7800GS might be a much better bet.
