I've just recently begun using Firefox and was wondering if SpywareBlaster is appropriate for use with Firefox?

YES, very much so. I use that combination myself, simply update for both IE & FF as provided for. I check daily for updates because I use spywareBlaster every day checking for bad activeX downloads on HJT logs here, but you might want to check once a week or so. They do update frequently, as do ad-aware, avg anti-virus, spybot & many other very good applications. Good question.
