I just noticed that it is using up tons of my RAM and my usage is up to around 65%. What is going on with this?

Windows media player using all your resources. Unless you're into sharing media files you can/should disable the service. Google can help you with that.

Yea, you can shut the service off so it doesn't happen again. Same thing has happened to me. I think it means somebody is accessing your default shared folders over wifi, not sure.

Or completely uninstall WMP and install VLC rather...
