Great idea....however, I've noticed that promotions are earned
by the quality of the content in the individual posts, and the knowledge that the poster (member) displays. The number of posts are just that.....numbers. Allow me to site an example if I may:
I'm not stupid, but I'm no genius either. I was a member of these forums for a short while, helping where I could and when I could with what I could. I got stumped on a topic, and this "member" (group: members) stepped up to the plate and both pollitely and professionally told me what was wrong and how to fix it. Even thogh (s)he had a small amount of posts (less than I did), the information that (s)he provided was bar none top notch. For my own reasons, I "followed" this person reading their posts, and was extremely impressed with their knowledge and willingness to help in a slew of areas, from photo and video, to hardware to the OS itself. When I had maybe 100 or so posts more than he did, he was promoted to "BC Advisor", which he both deserved and earned. This person is non other than Hitsquad
, whom I have much respect for, along with all of the staff here at Bleepingcomuter.com.
IMHO, it's not the title, it's what you've done and how you've earned it.
I say to stick with it and show everyone what you've got! You'll be at the top in no time at all
(P.S. if we do create a cool member title, can I get in on that? LOL!!!)
