It seems that since Windows 10 my hp new laptop will not print to my wireless (old?) hp 6500 709n all in one printer - I have exhausted the help online with hp and get nowhere - can it be that these two wont play well with each other?  I havent read anything to say that - many thanks as always, great group!

Did you uninstall the old driver and install the Windows 10 driver here? What OS did you upgrade from?

Thank you for such a prompt reply - I did all suggested for Windows 10 os - doesnt work on this 'old' printer I have learned and have

purchased a new one - who would have guessed?  How frustrating!

I have the same problem, but it is telling me that my printer spooler is not working so I uninstalled the driver and tried to reinstall and now it will not let me download. I have my firewalls and antivirus turned off and keeps telling that the download has failed.

joker80, try downloading the Win 10 driver separately using a browser.  Download from the manufacturer's website.  Then remove the printer altogether from the system using 'Remove device' in Devices and Printers.  The go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.  Uninstall any drivers here for the the printer.  Then start from scratch reinstalling the printer. Let Windows 10 find a driver for you. If you can't, then let it use the old driver.  Then run the new driver setup program that you downloaded at the start.  It might work then.

Actually I have indeed tried everything and discovered that there are no updated drivers for my (only 3 year old) printer - bought another and it will work all the way from Windows 7 to Windows 10 -  I guess we are cornered into buying new technology whether or not we want to - same thing has happened with some other apps -  geez!

I reinstalled Windows 10 an all is good! I guess I had a bug in my first download.

Same problem. Can not print via wifi. Might be related to windows 10. Yet my other laptop with Windows 10 does print via the same wifi.  I have reinstalled Windows 10 and removed old HP software and reinstalled it. I still can not print. This laptop can not find any printers via wifi. I would very much appreciate a suggestion of what to do next to troubleshoot this problem. Thank you a head of time.  --Jack

Since I started this topic I am here to say that I have learned a few things: at least for me, I was told that the drivers which were needed to communicate with Windows 10 and HP 6500 were no longer available altho this was what needed (go figure).  So I got a new printer - and it is fine - but it shouldnt have to be that way :) .  Thanks all for your thoughtful replies.

I should make one clarification: my printer is a HP Photosmart 6280 All-in-One.
