Hi, I'm new to this site, but I have exhausted all of the options I know about, and this is my last resort. I was looking for a key code for StyleXP and got this virus. It will give alot of random pop ups, most of them telling me that my computer is infected and wants me to d/l some other random malware finder. It also disabled my anti-virus detector (norton systemworks) and tried to get through the windows firewall. there is a constant flashing yellow triangle with an exclamtion point in my task bar telling me that my computer is infected.

When I run spybot and adware se they can't delete the files because it is still running. Also if I restart, they start automatically. Adware se gave me the location of the virus being C:\WINDOWS\System32\.....dll I tried deleting that file with killbox, but as soon as I restared, it was back.

I really hope you all can help me, this thing is driving me crazy and I don't want to loose any personal info.

Hi onrop

Please download Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to your desktop.

* Close all windows before continuing.
* Double-click Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to run it.
* Put a check next to Run this program as a task.
* You will receive a message saying Look2Me-Destroyer will close and re-open in approximately 1 minute. Click OK
* When Look2Me-Destroyer re-opens, click the Scan for L2M button, your desktop icons will disappear, this is normal.
* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove L2M button.
* You will receive a Done Scanning message, click OK.
* When completed, you will receive this message: Done removing infected files! Look2Me-Destroyer will now shutdown your computer, click OK.
* Your computer will then shutdown.
* Turn your computer back on.

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Please post the contents of Look2Me-Destroyer.txt (should be on C:\), smitfraudfix log and a new HiJackThis log.

Thanks for replying, this has seemed to work so far. There is no longer the flashing things in my task bar, and I haven't had any pop-ups. Here are the log files you asked to see.

Thanks for replying back. I'm currently at work and I have class tonight, so it will be late until I get my next post up. However, I just remember, and I thought I should ask you about it. I still have the system restore turned off....I think, I turned it off for one step in the "pre hijackthis walkthrough" and I forgot to turn it back on. Is that alright? Should I leave it off, or turn it back on?

Turn system restore back on, please. It's better to have even an infected restore point than no restore point at all. We clean your system restore after your computer is clean

Hi Onrop.

You sent look2medestroyer report two times, but didn't send ewido report. If you saved it, please send it here.

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark this:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winmyy32 - winmyy32.dll (file missing)

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Reboot.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
  • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

    o Scan Options:

    + Scan Archives
    + Scan Mail Bases

  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
Send:

- a fresh HijackThis log
- ewido report
- kaspersky report

Your may need several replies to post the requested logs, otherwise they might get cut off.

Sorry about that, I do have it saved, but is there any other way I can send it to you? It is over 17 million character and would take forever to post.

Wow, that's much  Do you have much tracking cookies there or files that are in Norton Quarantine in that report? If you have lot of those you can remove them from report and see if that report shrinks enough.

I don't see alot from Norton, almost all of the list is from Mozilla...and says something like this:

:mozilla.92:C:\RECYCLER\NPROTECT\00191477.MOZ -> TrackingCookie.Zedo : Cleaned with backup (quarantined).

Ok, you can remove all lines like that for report.

I mean lines like below:

:mozilla.(something here):C:\RECYCLER\NPROTECT\(something here).MOZ -> TrackingCookie.(something here) : Cleaned with backup (quarantined).

Send ewido report after that, please

Hi Onrop

Boot in safe mode -> http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Empty this folder (delete all files inside it, not the folder itself):

C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine

Delete these:

H:\Drivers\Windows Themes\Black Lambo\36620.exe
H:\Pocket PC\mega pack\Part 2 PocketPC Definitive Collection 2004\Utilities\Area Code Reverse Lookup\Setup.exe

Reboot

Right click Recycle Bin and choose "Empty Norton Recycle Bin" or something like that (I don't remember exact term)

Download Hoster and unzip it to your desktop.

Open Hoster that you earlier unzipped on your desktop
  • Click "Make Hosts Writable?" upper right corner (if available)
  • Click "Restore Microsoft's Original Hosts File" and then click OK
  • Close Hoster
Note; IF you used any custom Hosts (eg. MVPS Hosts), you will have put them back manually

Re-scan with kaspersky

Send:

- a fresh HijackThis log
- kaspersky report.

How are things running now?

Things are running great now. I think I have to reinstall Norton, because it won't let me turn the virus protection back on. and do you have any sugestions for a good Free firewall? I never had one before, and I think I need one.

Thanks for all your help, you are awsome.

Here are the reports.
