I have an APC UPS that's about 13 years old.  I've replaced the battery 3 times but it's still going strong.  The top of it is flat metal and it's the perfect spot to put my external backup hard drive where it's out of the way.  If i do that, will the UPS corrupt or erase the data on the HD over time?  I'm assuming there is enough shielding on the UPS and the HD but i wanted to know for sure before i risk it.
