Hello, I am suddenly not able to connect to the internet.  The little wireless icon in the lower left of the Windows tray displays but only sometimes, and even when it does, it's not displaying any available wireless networks like it usually does.  I went to Device Manager, and made sure the card is enabled, it wasn't so I enabled it, but it's still not working.

Could someone take a look with me?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Hope everyone is having  a nice day.

Are other devices (if any) able to connect wirelessly?

If so, that could indicate that culprit for you is the wireless adapter.

It is possible that the wireless adapter has reached the end of its useful life.

If that is the case, you can purchase a USB wireless adapter to use.

Is your "yes" the answer to my question about other devices connecting to the network? If they do, are they experiencing any issues with a WiFi connection?

Thank you for that information.

Had you said it happens on every device with the frequency it happens on your computer I would suspect you router could be at fault. In fact, it could be a reason since you say the phone does not disconnect much. (What do you mean by "much"?)

However, in your case the most likely reason is your wireless adapter.

I don't know of any tests you can run on it, but someone else might.

Although, a good test would be to see if another laptop or tablet has issues when connecting to your wireless network.

The smartphone doesnt disconnect, or doesnt seem to.  It autoreconnects so if it does disconnect I cant tell unless I were to manually check in the smartphones connection manager.  There's some latency occasionally but thats all as far as I can tell.

Ok thank you, yes I am open to help to test the adapter.

If it's a hardware failure though, would Device Mgr show it as disabled?  I think it's showing as active but will double check this.

No. Device Manager will not tell you if the device has failed or is disabled. All Device Manager does is list the various components which have drivers installed.

My Local Area Connection is disabled. In Device Manager there is no indication that is is disabled.

Thank you, here is the MiniToolbox Report:

There is a misunderstanding here.

I did not request the Speccy log which is prepared for the system user.  That reflects Windows license data and other information which is not necessarily useful.

I requested you to follow the instructions for creating a Speccy Snapshot...and then paste the URL to that Snapshot in a post.  That Snapshot does not reflect any license data and reflects data which can be used assist in troubleshooting.

It's important...to follow the instructions provided...if the intent is to provide useful information designed to assist forum members in trying to get a handle on what may be contributing factors to your situation.

Louis, wifey and I have the same problem, what we did was track the problem right to our modem/router [we have DSL]. Our solution will be to replace the modem/router.  Do you think OP's situation could be traced to the modem/router?

I was at the computer lab and they were closing, the computer shuts down automatically at 830PM, I lost track of the time.

Secondly, when I ran Speccy from the usb drive at home, when I tried to generate the link to paste here, I got error message:  "Unable to resolve server (or host name maybe" I think it was.  Assuming this is because I wasn't online?  If yes, is there a way to run Speccy from a usb and use one of the other reports its capable of generating in order to paste here what you need?

Lastly, I will paste the MiniToolbox Report in a new reply now, below.

Roland JS, thank you, (who is OP?) - I am on a public router in an apartment building.  I had a similar issue recently where the machine was getting kicked off the wifi connection here and there, and whenever this happened, the wifi icon in the lower right tray would turn red showing "no netwrks available", and the only thing that worked was to reboot the machine and then there were available wifi networks.  But now it's red and doesn't show wifi networks, and rebooting doesn't change this.
