Hi , Paula here I have the weirdest issue I have ever seen on windows 7 pro 64 bit... Now this is going to sound inpossiable but I watched my computer do this . I just bought a lenovo thinkpad tablet with windows 7 pro 64..I recieved it just fine said I had 64 bit and had some windows update...So I hit install ..a few hours later it tells me it has a problem and was fixing it ... now this thing does update and most did not install. Said 198 needed but only 17 took.

So I run windows update again ..this time it runs forever....then it installed 102 and they took but I noticed something it now said I have windows 7 pro 32 and i needed 98 more updates ...so i hit install....I have never in my life ever seen a windows update change an os from 64bit to 32 bit and no it did not formate my computer .This was a gift for my 48 birthday and i spent 2 days just doing updates ...I know I am not crazy How the Hello did windows update chage my os windows 7 pro 64 to windows pro7 32? just a note all drivers where in this computer and was working great I never changed anything but run the windows update and installed microsoft security ess. thats it ..it never foremated or change the drivers that I seen!

Hi paulaDD :)

First, it's impossible for any OS to change its architecture without a complete format and install of that system in another architecture. It's possible that you might have misread the information that was presented to you. I'm not saying that you did, but there might have been a bit of confusion with what you read or might have read too fast. Now, when you clean install Windows 7 SP1, you have around 300 Windows Updates to install. So it's normal for it to have to install updates multiple times and restart multiple times in the process. I know that since I create Windows 7 SP1 VMs almost weekly and this for a few years now (the number of updates increases over the time). Now, Microsoft Security Essentials is also not pushed via Windows Update, unless you installed it first. What is being pushed however is definition for the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and Windows Defender, so you might have mistook them for Microsoft Security Essentials. As long as you're not encountering any issues when installing your Windows Updates, you should be totally fine.

Being Windows 64-bit capable doesn't mean your system is 64-bit. Follow the instructions below please.

3Al62Pm.pngMiniToolBox
  • Download MiniToolBox and move the executable file to your Desktop;
  • Right-click on MiniToolBox.exe and select Spcusrh.pngRun as Administrator (for Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 users);
  • Check the following options:
    • List Installed Programs;
    • List Last 10 Event Viewer Errors;
      Yjt97o0.png
  • Once this is done, click on Go and wait for the scan to complete;
  • Once the scan is complete, a log will open. Please copy/paste the content of the output log in your next reply;

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 (X86)

MiniToolBox's log indeed reveal that you are running Windows 7 Professional SP1 x86 (32-bit) and not x64 (64-bit), which means that this is the Windows that was installed when you first got the laptop.

By the way my system system came  pre-loaded with a Fresh install of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit for TOP PERFORMANCE! and  installed all the proper drivers and Think Vantage software. (No media is included) One of best features is the laptop has BUILT-IN rescue and recovery feature that will restore it's entire OPERATING SYSTEM and DRIVERS...SO NO NEED FOR RESTORE CDS!

Who told you that your system came pre-loaded with that? By the way, I would like to see a Speccy snapshot of your system please.

ik5xYHs.pngSpeccy - Publish a snapshot
Follow the instructions below to download and install Speccy, then to publish a snapshot of your system information:
  • Download and install Speccy from Piriform (the download will start automatically a few seconds after clicking on the Speccy link);
    Note: You can opt-out the Google Toolbar installation if you want;
  • Once Speccy is installed, launch the program and give it a good minute to load all your system information;
  • After that, click on the File menu in the top left corner, and select Publish Snapshot;
  • A window will appear asking you to confirm your decision to publish a snapshot. Click on Yes;
  • A new window will appear after, with a URL link to your snapshot. Click on Copy to Clipboard button to copy that URL to your clipboard, then paste it in your next reply and post it;

What proof do you have that it was running Windows 7 SP1 Pro x64 on September 18th? Where did you see that or who told you that?

It seems that the seller sent you the wrong product or lied about it. First of all, he advertise the laptop is being equipped with Windows 7 SP1 Professional x64, which isn't true since we can clearly see that the x86 (32-bit) version is installed on your system. Secondly, it says that the laptop comes with 4GB of RAM, which is also false since Speccy only report 3GB of RAM installed on your system. Same for the processor, the listing says that it comes with an Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor L9400 (1.86 GHz), but Speccy reports your CPU as being a Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo SL9300 @ 1.60GHz.

To sum it up, you didn't get the same laptop that was announced in that eBay listing.
