I use Windows Explorer a lot and i have all my video and audio files associated with VLC media player.  One thing that always bugged me was in explorer, i couldn't sort by extension (i use the"details" view).  I could sort by file type but all my audio and video files have "VLC media file" as the type so it doesn't differentiate between mp3, avi, mp4 or whatever.

All of sudden, i noticed that in the type field, the extension is now in parentheses i.e. "VLC media vile (.mp3).  I have no idea how this happened but now i can sort by file type!  Awesome! Does anyone know what happened to cause this?  I'd like to know so that if it ever goes away i know how to bring it back.
