PROBLEM:  My computer freezes at the ASUS Sabertooth X58 motherboard splash screen.  I do not even get to Windows 7.  Multiple reboots failed to solve the problem.  Trying to boot from the Windows 7 rescue disk yielded the same probem.  So I decided that downloading but not yet installing Windows 10 could not be the problem.  It had to be a motherboard issue.

SOLUTION:  While opening the computer to determine the motherboad serial number, I found the inside to be filthy.  So I cleaned it.  I buttoned it up, rebooted, and everything worked perfectly.

MORAL;  (1) Clean your computer at least one every 6 months.  Put the task on your calendar and DO IT.

                (2) Sometimes it is the simple stuff that will drive you nuts.
