Well, I guess you get what you pay for. I purchased a "genuine" copy of Vista with case, documentation and valid product key, I verified it with "Magic Jelly Bean" on-line. However, Windows won't activate because the product key is already in use. I've tried looking on-line for product keys but none of them work.

Could some direct me to a sight to find a working key or should I just toss the disk and chalk it up to experience.

Cheers

Mike

Who did you purchase this disk and key form, a retail store or perhaps ebay?

From Google it seems this site is similar to craigslist in the US. Buying and Selling through an online portal. If you cannot contact the seller and resolve the problem then you are most likely out of luck.

At this point to avoid shelling out more money, I would install a linux distro on the computer. What is the make and model of the computer and how much RAM does it have?

If this was a retail version of Vista you can try calling Microsoft and have them transfer the license to your computer.

Thanks for the quick reply John. I did contact Microsoft and got it activated. Of course, everything comes with a price and now the screensaver isn't working. Went to the Regedit and enabled the screensaver with a 1 but it didn't help.

Cheers

It seems to be a common problem with Vista. Are you by chance using a wireless keyboard and mouse?

Also see the resolution section on this page if you have a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard.

No problem. Were you able to resolve the problem?
