Today I'm getting a "Silverlight was blocked because it is out of date and needs to be updated".  My windows 7 is running perfect and I want to keep it that way.  I'm wondering if I need to update or should I delete it completely. Thanks in advance

Some places require you have it. Such as Netflix. It's part of their requirements to help protect their video streams from copyright infringement.
