yesterday i got a pop up error message with audio saying virus has been detected in my computer and asked me to call the number 1 888 283 5495.  I think the pop up message was generated from easycomputerhelp.com... I freaked out and called the number.  I ended up giving access to someone for an hour via GoToAssist.   I realized this was scam..now i am scared of what they could have taken from my computer and what I should do next?

The bad news is, that you have called this number and give access to your computer. In this case the best option is to backup your personally data and make a clean install of your System.

  • If you give them information like credit card number or email-Addresses, you need to inform you credit card company to lock your current credit card.
  • Change all passwords from all you current accounts (iCloud, itunes, email- and banking etc.). Do this from a clean pc NOT from you mac!
  • This should be done as soon as possible.

Agreed, reinstall
