My Firefox has been hijacked by a program apparently called 'Crossbrowser',  and to add to the fun, it came bundled with a program called 'Wajam', another called 'Unitywebplayer',  one called 'Surfanonymous' and one whose text are all in Chinese, but which shows as 'app.iqiyi.com' as its ...authors'?

I tried to do the uninstall at the Control panel, but they show no 'progress window', and if I click them again they say to wait while the program finishes uninstalling, but after a LONG wait its still there. Restart had no effect. They open tons of ads and popups, even though Firefox was set to block pop-ups. I still see Firefox listed in my list of programs but this program took over its icon on the desktop, and I cannot now open Firefox at all.

How can I get rid of this package?

Thanks.

Jason,

Thanks for the prompt and informative reply. I'm at work now, but as soon as I get home tonight, I will follow the steps and post whatever results I can get.

A few months ago, Aura helped me out with replacing a HDD in this same lap top, and I was thoroughly impressed. As a teacher, and as someone who formerly worked training customer service workers for a huge health-insurance conglomerate, I am truly appreciative of the work you guys do, which seems to me to be a combination of the two.

You folks at BC are just the best. :thumbup2:

Talk to you soon.

David S.
