BC was down for about an hour

I got a message that showed icons My PC then Cloudflair then BC website

My question is, How did I get cloudflair? Does it come with Windows?

Avast?

Firefox?

Acer/Manafacturer

I never installed it

So, I googled it, and it seems like a legitimate program

With Avast,Firefox and various other programs, Should I keep it?

CloudFlare is a "middle" server to mainly defend your web server from ddos (though it has features to speed up your website by having CDN, etc)

It happened to everyone that was accessing the website because the BC server was down, but CloudFlare cached it so you can access it while the website is down)

It is not a program, but a server which is between Bleeping Computer and your pc (bleeping computer chose this protect their server and to speed it up so you don't have to worry)

You can sign up here if you want to protect your website

They have free protection (basic), Pro, and Business (more information about each plan's features is here)

Its up to you which one to choose, but first try with their basic protection which is free

It's not any plugin or program. It's a data center. Mine went through to Ashburn, VA.

BC was down according to one of those "is it down right now" sites.

edit: oops, I missed that the post was already answered. Sorry.

OK so if I am understanding correctly, its not installed on anything I own

Usually when a sites down, I usually get the generic, couldn't connect the server is not responding check your...........

So it was because it was BC that was down, was the reason I saw that?

Yes

So it is like this

Your computer sends a request to the CloudFlare data center nearest you when you type bleepingcomputer.com

Then, it sends the images, etc while it connects to Bleeping Computer server and sends you the rest of the things

When BleepingComputer was down, CloudFlare data center could not connect to the bleeping computer server, so it shows a cached version of popular pages, and for the pages not cached, it tells you that Bleeping COmputer is offline.
