Hello everyone,

I'm new here and I'm asking for your help.

I'm Dario by the way.

A friend of mine has been infected by the BandarChor cryptolocker malware (or at least this is what I think) because he opened an email attachment and now lots of his photos have been encrypted.

He gave me his hard drive and I removed every single bit of the malware but now I end up with lots of jpg files that ends with the ".id-9801335852_fudx@lycos.com" extension.

With less than half of them, I simply removed the extension leaving just ".jpg" and fortunately the images are still intact but the rest is encrypted and I don't know what to do.

I did a research upon the Internet and I found this git page https://github.com/tamamshud/BandarChorFileRestorer but the methods explained there don't work or maybe I tried but I didn't make it work.

So I was wondering if you could help me somehow or if there's something I can do.

I'm uploading one of these files so you could check. It's zipped.

Attached File  100_5610.JPG.id-9801335852_fudx@lycos.com.zip   1.16MB   2 downloads

Thank you so much anyway  :)  :)

    • Please do this even if you have previously posted logs for us.
    • If you were unable to produce the logs originally please try once more.
    • If you are unable to create a log please provide detailed information about your installed Windows Operating System including the Version, Edition and if it is a 32bit or a 64bit system.

  • Upon completing the above steps and posting a reply, another staff member will review your topic and do their best to resolve your issues.

Thank you for your patience, and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

  • Double click on the FRST icon and allow it to run.
  • Agree to the usage agreement and FRST will open. Do not make any changes and click on the Scan button.

Welcome and sorry for the delay.

There is a Cryptolocker Support Topic in the General Security Forum which specializes in your type of situation. The Topic is monitored by helpers who are experts in the area of Crypto type infections. I would recommend you post your situation on that Topic for more specialized help.

Since most BleepingComputer Forums require that any Malware related Topic be closed before providing assistance I am going to close this Topic so as to not cause any delay in your receiving help.

It appears that this issue is resolved, therefore I am closing the topic. If that is not the case and you need or wish to continue with this topic, please send me or any Moderator a Personal Message (PM) that you would like this topic re-opened.
