Do I need this update?  Is it something I should worry about?  It has been failing to install since mid August

Silverlight is Microsoft's version of Flash. The only major service to use Silverlight is Netflix. So unless you're a big Netflix user, you won't need it much. The product has been such a failure that there has been talk that Microsoft may phase it out. You probably don't need the update.

Thank you!  I don't use Netflix so I am going to hide the update for now.   Glad I can get rid of the annoying trying to install updates every time I shut down!
