About a week ago I updated my video card with the Geforce Experience app but something went wrong and Windows went into low res mode plus Aeros stopped working as well and uninstalling the updates didn't help so I had to do a system restore but it didn't restore properly I've attached the error message but I did a little research and it looks like it has something do with (Linux) Grub interfering with the Windows restore process.

And I haven't noticed anything really odd with Windows except when I run CCleaner it says MS search instead of thumbnails. But how do I ensure next time I restore Windows it be interrupted by Grub should I try a third party system restore app maybe Duplicati?

Well...I don't understand why you assert Grub as a participant in an unsuccessful System Restore.  In any case...

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792 , taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Well...you have a series of very common (IMO) errors which may impact System Restore...the errors indicating that the content catalog is corrupt.  Typically, obvious impacts are Windows Search and the indexing function.

My answer to this...is to turn off the indexing function.  I typically disable indexing on any version of Windows and I have not found it to be a particularly necessary function.  That's just my approach.

Now the standard answer:  Rebuild The Index In Windows 7 .

I see no connection or indication whatever...of a connection between the errors you reflect in submitted data...and your stated suspects.

Regarding the Ccleaner item mentioned...see checkmarked Answer at http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/17880-index-rebuild.html .
