hello all,

somehow i have some sort of spyware installed on my computer and cannot get rid of it. i have run adaware, ewido and spybot. when i run spybot, its able to remove everything except one category (39 files) and it says its smitfraud-c. i have followed the directions to remove smitfraud-c but that didn't do it, i am not sure if thats it because when other people describe smitfraud-c, i do not get those things. i have no idea what i have but i have this yellow triangle in my sys tray and every few secs the box pops up for it. it says something about my system being infected with iworm_attk_v122.02a. i also get random boxes popping up on my screen thats spyware. here is my hijackthis log.

You may want to print out these instructions or save it as a text document, and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding. It is also important for you to don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order.

=====================================

Please open HijackThis, click Do a system scan only, and then place a checkmark beside each of these entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [907c839a.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\907c839a.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [907c839a.exe] C:\Documents and Settings\dan\Local Settings\Application Data\907c839a.exe

After placing all the checkmarks, close all windows (except HJT), and then hit Fix Checked. When it finishes, exit HJT.

=====================================

Show Hidden Files and Folders

Click Start My Computer Tools Folder Options. Select the View tab.
  • Check - Show hidden files and folders
  • Uncheck - Hide file extensions for known types
  • Uncheck - Hide protected operating system files
Click Yes to confirm, then OK to exit.

=====================================

Reboot into Safe Mode
  • Restart your computer.
  • Before the Windows logo appear, tap F8 repeatedly.
  • A menu should appear, select Safe Mode from the menu using your arrow keys and then hit Enter on your keyboard.
  • This will take a while than usual, so just wait.
=====================================

Locate and delete the following file(s), if present : C:\WINDOWS\system32\907c839a.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\dan\Local Settings\Application Data\907c839a.exe

=====================================

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
  • Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
  • Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
  • Select option #1 - Search by typing 1, and press Enter.
  • A text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
  • Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
NOTES :
  • process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes.
  • Do not run the other options of this tool yet until you are asked to do so.
=====================================

In your next reply, please include these log(s):
  • HijackThis log (new)
  • C:\rapport.txt
