Hello, recently upgraded to win10 and that went well.. very pleased. However on the last update (I think) that went bad. My pc now looses all apps when turned off. When restarted, I have to reload windows live mail and re-enter my email account. All my contacts seem to have been lost as is my email history.

I use google as my web browser and I have to re-enter all my settings here also.

When turned on, my pc loads quickly but after logging on, it goes to "preparing windows"  which takes some time before it is usable./

updates installed around the time of problem are;

kb3081448

kb3081449

kb3081452

kb3081444 ..this is the update after which I think the problem started

kb3081441

Any ideas will be greatfully received

regards  Lindsay

Do you have another account? Try creating another account and set your email in that test account. Restart your computer and see if, in that test account, your computer reset everything and you have to re-enter your email. Tell us if it got reset or not.

Hello again, I have been having trouble setting up a new account but have finally achieved it.

I logged into each account and then  switched between them quite easily.

Then I restarted my pc.

Results.. under my original login, all stuff disappeared but when logged into my new account things were still there

Now delete the test account. Restart your computer, and see if the reset thing happens in your original account.

Hi, just deleted my test (new) account. checked that  all was well on the original account then restarted.

Result..lost everything again.

I guess I could just put in the test account again then cancel the original account.. would this work?

Wait...Is your original account a microsoft account? Local accounts in Windows 10 are really glitchy. Make your account a microsoft account and then the reset will stop.
