Hi Bleeping,

For the past few weeks, I have been receiving BSOD's, which appear to be in relation to stressing the network card when downloading or even browing for periods of time.

I have done the usual -

SFC/ scannow

memtest

driver updates

checked windows updates and rolled back several "just in case"

I am now stuck!

Subsequently, I am uploading SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip and perfmonreport.zip.

Can someone please tale a look and see if they can spot anything.

Here's the rundown -

OS - Windows 2008 R2 Sp1 (build 7601)

x64

Installed full retail from scratch

Hardware in a HP N40L, about 2 years old.

CPU = AMD Turon II NEO (dual core)

GRaphics card - onboard Mobility Radeon HD 4200

Help appreciated!

Intersite Messaging Service (IsmServ) stopped unexpectedly.  Any particular reason for this?

The following adapter is disabled twice:

HP NC107i PCIe Gigabit Server Adapter

Was it disabled deliberately?  If so, why?  Have you updated the drivers for it?  If not, enable it, then update it's drivers, then disable it again (if so desired).

The LogMeIn Kernel Information Provider is spitting errors also.
Please uninstall LogMeIn.  If it's not installed, then please reinstall it and attempt to uninstall it again.

Check Device Manager to be sure that it has been fixed (it may be in the hidden or non-plug and play devices - so you'll have to search for it).

Not being real familiar w/server systems....

Your UEFI/BIOS (version HP O41) dates from 2011.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.

I don't think this would be a huge issue for you - but check the HP site to see if any of the problems fixed by an update would possibly apply to you.

You have a Gigabyte WBKG USB WLAN Card:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later systems - using older drivers with them is almost certain to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have the latest W7/8/8.1/10 drivers - DO NOT use older drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

In particular, as this is a server, I'd be very concerned about using an unreliable piece of hardware/software on the system.
Is there any way that you can get rid of this device?

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen both dtsoftbus01.sys and dtscsibus.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration):  New link (15 Aug 2012):  http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link:  http://www.disc-tools.com/download/sptd
Manual procedure here:  http://daemonpro-help.com/en/problems_and_solutions/registry_and_sptd_problems.html

Ensure that Plex Media Server is fully updated.  We saw problems with this about a year ago.

The memory dumps blame netr7064.sys - a driver for your wireless USB WLAN device that dates from 2006 (see my warnings about wireless USB WLAN devices above).

If you cannot get an updated driver (and if the updated driver doesn't behave itself either), i'd strongly suggest:

- a wired connection.

- if a wired connection isn't possible, then get an installable PCI/PCIe wireless card to install in a slot on the motherboard.

Hi Ussma,

Thanks for such a great response.

I'll wade through all those suggestions over the next few days.

Regarding this -

HP NC107i PCIe Gigabit Server Adapter

Was it disabled deliberately?  If so, why?  Have you updated the drivers for it?  If not, enable it, then update it's drivers, then disable it again (if so desired).

Yes, I think it was. I forced the machine to use the Wirless NIC as part of my troubleshooting.

Regarding the wireless question -

Quote

I will have a look.

I can't 100% remember why I had a wireless plugged in tbh!

Thanks again .....
