CAN'T REMOVE ETRECHECK FROM MY APPLE

I wasn't quite sure where to post this as it concerns my Apple Computer but its also about a problem software that I downloaded unfortunately today.   I copied a thread on a visit a couple months ago that recommended

downloading EtreCheck -

 

I cannot find the thread I copied:from a forum discussion here:but here is the text I copied.  I don't know how to find the thread so this is all if have: (maybe there is a way to find the original thread based on the date - but I don't know how to do that)

Are you sure it's your Router? 
You can try a factory reset and change your password.
 
Download EtreCheck make a log an post it here.
 
 
2.  Please download the two following tools: Knock Knock and  Dylib Hijack Scanner
- Move both tools on your desktop (Make a new folder) and move both into it.
- Unpack both tools and start it (not both together :)). On the left bottom side there is a symbol (looks like a gear), click on it and and enable the function save results. Do it with both tools separately. 
- Close the preferences and click on scan. The tools check some dlybs and extension and save a log file. Copy the content of both log files and put it here in your next answer.
 
3. If you doing the steps in #1 above please make also a new EtreCheck log.
 
 
 
MY PROBLEM TODAY: After having downloaded EtreCheck on my Imac Desktop it has proved problematic but now I cannot get rid of it.
 
It will not let me close out the program.
 
When I try to shut my computer down it says the EtreCheck has prevented the shutdown
 
If I just turn off my computer and restart EtreCheck has automatically started.
 
When I try to delete EtreCheck - it says it cannot do so because EtreCheck is running.
 
So I can't close it out which keeps me from deleting it and it is interfering with my computer which is now very slow to respond .
 
CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO GET RID OF THIS?
