Hey, my name's Aisling. I'm a sysadmin/netsec and hobbyist gamer.

I thought while I'm here I might ask what the most appropriate board would be for a topic regarding sound issues (specifically audio peripheral connections breaking down between it and the sound card).

Would that be considered External Hardware, Internal Hardware or Software?

EDIT: I'd also like to note that while I'm not so much as looking for a fix, I am looking for answers or an explanation of what my issue is or why it is happening (should there be somewhere specific for that type of topic).

There is a specific forum here at Bleeping Computer that deal with Audio and Video issues, that might be your best bet. Also, welcome.
