I'm having a problem with an internet explorer install on Windows 7 32-bit.  If I open ie, the currently installed version is 10. However, when I run windows update, it wants me to update to 10, so it seems like windows update is under the impression that I'm running 9. If I try to run the update it fails. If I go to uninstall the update in programs and features, it shows that I have ie 11 installed.  That uninstall fails.  If I try to remove the feature from windows, it says I have ie 11 and the removal fails.  I've downloaded the ie 11 installer and that fails.  Installers for past versions of ie won't even run.

I've treid running sfc /scannow a few times and it hasn't ever found anything wrong.  I've tried running a number of fixits aimed at fixing problems with ie or windows update.  I've tried running the system update readiness tool.  I've tried running

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"

for 11 and 10.  Nothing has had any effect.

Thanks :)

Have you tried rolling IE 11 to IE10?

If you can do this you could then install IE 11.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
