A while back when i had to do a fresh install of windows 8, i noticed that i only had 7.5gb of ram functioning. But when i restarted my laptop it went back to 8GB again. Since i've upgraded to windows 10 it has happened again. Any way i can fix this issue? I've been told about something in the BIOS but i'm not messing with that. Thanks

This is actually very normal, the OS always reads stuff like memory and hard disk space lower then what it says on the box.

Its something i got used to personally

Total memory is 8GB

Hardware reserves some memory like 20MB-512MB (depending on your configurations)  for integrated gpu and some stuff

Its completely normal to have slightly lower memory then the total memory.

The OS reserved 20.4MB for me
