So recently I upgraded my OS to Windows 10. After I did that my computer started crashing while streaming video. I tried various things to make it work and eventually ended up resetting my OS to windows 8.1. Still crashing.

Usually when its been crashing the computer just freezes up, but a couple times I've had the blue screen come on with the error "CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT"

I'm very confused by the whole situation as it never happened to me before I upgraded to windows 10, and now persisting into win 8.1.

Update: Problem also seems to happen during intensive gaming. I was running the benchmark tester in GTA V and it froze the computer. Did not go to blue screen, however.

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum):  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

While waiting for a reply, try these free diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

Start with the video tests as this seems to be related to your gaming.

Good luck!

Thank you for the reply! Hopefully I did everything correctly, I had some issues getting the performance monitor report.

I wiped the computer again last night. Did not solve my problem. Also took video card out and dusted.

Only 8 Windows Updates installed.  Most systems have 170 to 180 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).
Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

Your UEFI/BIOS (version 2301) dates from 2014.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.  WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.

No other evidence of BSOD problems in the reports.  If the system is still BSOD'ing, please start with these free diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

Just to give an update.

After updating my BIOS and windows it changed my issue. While playing a game, the game would freeze, and I would not be able to close any program without shutting the computer down manually.

I went into BIOS settings and manually set the speed of my RAM and turned of the ASUS turbo CPU feature.

I have not had any freeze up or BSOD in 2 weeks. seems to be good.
